Call for the 49th ICTMD World Conference
The 49th ICTMD World Conference will be held at Alberto Hurtado University from January 14 to 20, 2027. The co-chairs of this conference are Jacob Rekedal, a member of ICTMD Chile and professor at Alberto Hurtado University, and Ignacio Soto-Silva, president of ICTMD Chile, professor at the University of Los Lagos, and principal investigator at CMUS. The organizing committee also includes CMUS researchers: Daniela Fugellie and Christian Spencer, Nucleo's director The official website states: "The ICTMD World Conference is the leading international forum for presenting new research on music and dance traditions. Many new initiatives emerge from the World Conferences and, perhaps even more crucially, the discussions at these meetings help shape our ongoing work. A successful World Conference is a truly stimulating and wonderful place to meet and share ideas, music, and dance with colleagues from around the world." The themes of the 49th ICTMD World Conference are as follows: 1) Latin America and the Caribbean in the region and beyond 2) Digital Media 3) Power, Conflict and Planetary Health 4) Spiritual and Religious Performativities 5) Queering the Field 6) Alternate Histories 7) Nuevas Investigaciones Presentations The deadline for submitting proposals has been extended to Thursday, February 5, 2025; while the notification of acceptance will be sent by March 31, 2026.
