Catalina Lagos at the VIII International Seminar on Research in Art and Education

This Thursday, July 23rd, CMUS thesis student Catalina Lagos will deliver the talk "An Ethnographic Approach to Teaching Afro-Brazilian Percussion at a Community Integration Center in the City of Osorno" at the VIII International Seminar on Research in Art and Education, held at the Casa Central of the Universidad de Chile. Her presentation will be part of the Second Panel, "Coexistence and Arts Education: Methodologies, Tools, and Practices for a Common Territory."

According to the Universidad de los Lagos student, "preliminary results will be presented from a master's research project analyzing the process of designing and implementing an Afro-Brazilian percussion workshop at a special education school in the city of Osorno, examining the teaching strategies adopted by the musicians and how the boundaries between street art and school institutionality are negotiated."
