Julio Mendívil Leads Activities as Part of "Culturas del Casete" Project

As part of the Fondecyt project "Culturas del casete: tecnología, escucha y participación" ["Cassette Cultures: Technology, Listening, and Participation"], led by academic Laura Jordán (CMUS principal researcher), Peruvian ethnomusicologist and charango player Julio Mendívil (University of Vienna) carried out a series of activities during March at the Faculty of Philosophy and Education (Sausalito Campus) of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.
His visit to our country included the master class "Leyendo cuentos fabulosos. Sobre el nacimiento, vida y muerte de la música inca" ["Reading Fabulous Tales: On the Birth, Life, and Death of Inca Music"] (March 20, Sala Margot Loyola), a meeting with thesis students supervised by Laura Jordán (Javiera Muñoz, Nicolás Yaeger, and Juan Almonacid), and the lecture "Jorge Manrique en Cajamarca. La danza de los chunchos y la construcción colectiva del pasado" ["Jorge Manrique in Cajamarca: The Dance of the Chunchos and the Collective Construction of the Past"] (March 21, Aula Media).
