On Thursday, August 20, Tomás Peters gave the talk "Knowledge Management and Decision-Making in Recent Cultural Institutional Frameworks in Chile (2014–2024)" at the International Conference on Cultural Policy Research in Otawa University, Canada.

The CMUS principal investigator noted that the presentation raises the question of "how knowledge—and the production of evidence—has contributed to the political and technical design of recent cultural policies in Chile. To answer this question, the study sought to identify the links between the State and scientific research in the decision-making processes related to the design and implementation of cultural policies developed and enacted in Chile between 2014 and 2024. The results indicate that decision-making in Chile's recent cultural policies continues to show a certain disregard for the technical and scientific factors considered essential worldwide for the implementation and evaluation of contemporary cultural policies, particularly the systematic use of empirical evidence. Although studies have been funded and are regarded as important inputs within Chile's cultural institutional framework, their use tends to be predominantly utilitarian and communicational, rather than technical."
